John is on the phone with his sister who's in Virgina, south west of Washington. I'll see how it was there, in a min.

We just came back from the German-American festival. Lots of beer of course. John & I didn't have any (I don't like beer). You can imagine the place on Saturday night. My dd went with her BF & 2 of his buddies, as the designated driver. The 3 guys got sooooo drunk. One lost the group & the other 2 guys couldn't find the car. On the way home her BF had to potty but Lisa told him to go before they left. She yelled at him & told him if he got out & walked to a tree she would drive off. She said most the night she felt she was babysitting three 2 year olds.

Tried a new chiro this AM. OK, not great. Oh well. Pain's not worse at least. Muscle tension is so bad even my face and eyeball are affected (weird, but it can happen if you irk a cranial nerve, feels like the muscles in my eye socket are also in spasm, very odd!).

Glad no one got too damaged by Irene. Here, drizzle, wind, not much worse, thankfully!

The chiro I saw this morning said my problem is "pelvic floor dysfunction". Really? You can tell after one visit? When the pain is only on one side and has not affected bowel or bladder? And my various docs have all dismissed that? Not to say it's impossible, but it's highly unlikely... Oh well. No sense stressing over the "maybes", the "definites" are enough hassle.

we had beautiful weather here over the weekend. everyone hopefully safe from Irene?where is Jo?

my oldest son stopped by Sat. to show me his latest crazy purchase-a Corvette! I'm giving up on him ever growing up.

yesterday was Lori's memorial. housemate got through it just fine.he finally got the report from the autopsy,she had a seizure (not sure what that means) .

Brody is going to be okay though he is seriously traumatized. He has gone into wounded animal mode and is recovering in his den under the beds. Poor guy thought he was the biggest, baddest animal out here. Well his pride is hurt too lol.

Chris, I am so sorry! I jus trealized I didn't comment on poor Brody yesterday! I am glad he's going to be okay. :)

Pain is worse today, bad night, what muscle spasms, blah-blah-blah. Found out HMO is behind the amazingly long time it is taking to get to common-sense things like a pelvic MRI to identify soft tissue issues (or lack thereof).... They have this long bizarre sequence in whcih things must be done for them to cover costs and guarantee (and I quote) "that the tests are necessary". Ummm... they authorize 3 MONTHS of expenses rather than just do an MRI to start?! Total WTF moment!

Good wishes to all and hugs and apologies for being so self-absorbed. Darn pain does that, I guess.

Today I am not watching anything unless it's a sitcom or a funny animated movie.

Chris I was so scared about the outcome with Brody I was reluctant to even check in here this morning. it is a huge relief to know he's OK!

Leo,HMO's are not meant to make sense. keep in mind the MRI will be pricey,I can't help but feel someone should have insisted on it before now! heck maybe you will heal on your own @ this rate. you've always been the physically fit one on here so can only imagine how bummed you are to be down & out. I sure know I miss your sense of humor & of course there is nothing funny about pain.

chris, i am happy brody is fine, but might need some doggy therapy. you could get him a collar with spikes on it to make him look fierce. i loved your pics of the weird mushrooms and of brody! you have an eye for the unusual .

leo, of course you can be self-absorbed when in pain! it consumes your whole brain. i think watching funny movies is a great idea! i had gone to my primary care doc for a slight pain in my groin area, but i wasn't paying attention to exactly when it hurt. he was concerned about a hernia, which might sound right, since i have been lifting a lot the last 2 summers (dirt, peat moss, sand, etc.) to fix my yard. he said mri right away, becauase an ultrasound doesn't show much in that area cause it is so densely packed with intestines and stuff. he said an ultrasound wouldn't be able to see something like a hernia. i will wait on that, cause i have been taking it easier and the pain only happens every once in a while.

pati, i went to costco last week and found some "hot papaya" coneflowers (echinacea), which are this brilliant red center cone with orangey-red petals. they are beautiful and were only 15 bucks for a pack of 3 well established plants. they are going in front of the rhododendrons with the guillardia that is red/orange/yellow daisy like flowers that i am transplanting from the front yard next week. the guillardias aren't doing well there, cause the tree shades them too much. my yard is going to be almost all perennials cause i have a lot of sun most of the day in the places i am planting them. i took some pics, just have to ask my son to download them to the pc for me. i STILL can't do that .

i cut down 2 miniature christmas tree pines that had grown to about 4 ft. already and they got this disease that made the center of the pines dry out to all brown needles. they were cute as 1-2 ft. trees and they stayed that way a while, but the time had come to cut them down.

i will go bulb hunting tomorrow after i visit my mom. i want irises, they have some the bloom twice and more tulips for the front. i have to dig 8 inches down and divide those tulips! i hate the thought of that, but i will dig out the guillardia first and then the grape hyacinths are only 3 inches deep, then the tulips. i'll be able to get all those pesky weeds out of there also!

deedee, i saw your thoughts on missing your sister and ((((hugs)))) for the memories and loss you are feeling now.

dawn, i hope you have a good time at the lake this weekend. skip the fried butter at the state fair. SERIOUSLY !

After getting the results of the blood test that my body is not producing growth hormones I have had no follow up with the doctor in GB. I will have to find somebody to go to after I get back home.

Meanwhile, happening here. HOME TAZER!!!

I have a little home TENS unit, and of course being a good epileptic, I wear my medical alert tag on a chain around my neck. It's stainless steel. Why are these events related? Simple. I was using the TENS on a tense shoulder muscle, the little sticky pad slipped, hit my stainless steel chain and suddenly RING OF FIRE! So I screamed like a 10-year-old girl, and started whirling like a (seated) dervish, flapping my hands at the TENS unit like a demented duck warming up for take-off! DOn't know who ended up laughing harder, me or MOm, who came upstairs to find out why I was squealing like a stuck piglet!

Lesson learned: TENS unit and stainless stell do not mix!

And yes, the shoulder muscle loosened up, but that may have been stark raving freaking out-ness!

Otherwise am just worn out today, had two brief (5-10 minute) bouts of sudden intense sweating, like I aws getting rid of a virus or something. Maybe I was. Lord knows, as whacked out as my body's gotten, I could have my old Epstein-Barr virus waking up for a visit! Mom said it might be hormones, too, mine are messed up since all this started,w hat with stress and meds. Oh rapture.

summer reading

who reads Patricia Cornwell? I've been reading the strangest book ever! it's called Isle of Dogs & barely mentions Kay Scarpetta. has talking crabs & trout,monster woman that can disappear,so many weird character's if I stopped reading I lost track of who was who (or what).

now I got "The Help" to read this weekend. plan to open for a sale later on today. we are finally getting summer weather! 80's for next week.

Leo,want to thank you for the chuckle! I'm thinking you need new pads for your TENS unit.

I spent the entire day yesterday watching E! channel,marathon of Keeping up with the Kordachians (sp). got hooked on what must be one of the most weird reality shows ever!! I cannot imagine spending $3,000 for a toy helicopter,etc. my housemate went to one of the islands yesterday so I had the entire day to myself.

I've read Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series. I can't wait unti a new comes out. I don't know if I read the one you are talking about.

Right now I'm reading "The Help" and enjoying it.

Went to the fair and spend 9 hours there :(, my family is nuts about it. I was done after two hours. Ate mini dounuts, deep fried cheese curds, and had a malt. Oh and had sweet martha's chocolate chip cookies.

Going to the lake this weekend. We must be getting Pati's weather. It's only going to get between 68-72.

"isle of dogs" isn't part of the "kay scarpetta" series. it's part of another cop's serie's. his name is andy brazil. i read "hornet's nest" in the andy brazil series and it wasn't that bad.

some author's who have strong character's in their series books want to branch out and maybe explore another character possibly to start a series with them. if you read jeffrey deaver, he has the "lincoln rhyme" handicapped forensic specialist series and now he is branching out into a "kathryn dance" series. she appeared in a few of lincoln rhyme's series, something author's do to introduce a character or "try" them out. i like her as she is a body language specialist and can tell whether you're lying or concealing something by your body movements.

i never read "isle of dogs". i read "the scarpetta factor" after christmas when i got that and "port mortuary" as presents. i haven't had time to read "port mortuary" yet .

I've been reading Jonathon Kellerman's "Alex Delaware" books all summer, they're not bad, but I like Deaver better. I think b/c all the Kellerman ones are set in Hollyweird/LA, and I just don't "get" that "scene";) I've read a few of the Kay Scarpettas, but mostly this summer I've tried to read super-fluffy stuff, like old Bloom County collectoins and Calvin & Hobbes!

Looks like a drizzly week ahead here, we can use the rain as long as it doesn't come down in buckets all at once like it is doing in Louisiana right now.
