Yes, I agree with you Pati, about old ppl & me being there some day. I just wanted to rant --- sometimes he makes me so crazy. My DD & I go there to see how he is & to get him what he needs (today it was coffee filters & milk) every 3 days or so and we take him a newspaper. Christina, I'm glad your BF found a job. John wears nice clothes like that when he is in town then when he goes out of town to a factory he takes Jeans, etc. It's funny, years ago he took me into a plant to see how they make glass. I could almost touch the furnace (but I'd burn up in 2 seconds), there's a "hot end" (where the liquid glass 'batter' goes in & is turned into glass & a "cold end" (where the finished cooled down glass comes out). Now they have laws & I couldn't get back in, in a million years, if I wanted. You HAVE to wear a hard hat & steel toe shoes. Afterall (lol) if you get hurt it costs the company insurance money.

Yesterday I went to the ER....not for me, for my DD Lisa. I was watching the morning news & Lisa came down at 8:00 & showed me that she had some sorta rash all over. We didn't know exactly what to do so we went to the ER. It's some sort of itchy alergic reaction but we can't figure it out (she hasn't 'been into' anything new she thinks). She took one med & soon it went away. But in the afternoon it slowly came back. She woke up today & was OK (except the soles of her feet & the palms of her hands hurt). Later we went to my FIL's & when there her face started to itch & we thought 'oh no' & left. On the was home her face got redder & bumpy & her lips swelled. We ended up going to the ER again. They gave her a different med. I hope it works.?!

Chris, so glad to see you posting again. I'm happy that BF got a job. I think your right if your son can't find a job in MICH then he is better off where he is. Tuba isn't that a big instructment? Can't believe shortcake is that big.

Lor, hope your DD is doing better. We come in contact with so many things it would be hard to figure out what it was.

The weather here is so beautiful. We are in the 80's. We went to the cabin tonight and sat and watched the sun set.
Not too many days left for that.

Went to the pdoc but they seemed not to want to give me anymore meds to knock this depression off. I guess I will have this for the rest of my life. Which the pdoc did tell me the last time I talked to him.
      Take care,
      Dawn

Hey, all, hpe we are all having a good week. I am not---docs still have their heads stuck in my uterus, HMO is now refusing to authorize anything until we prove we need it with at least THREE docs (how does this save money?)---but it's nothing fatal, just frustrating! I may have to wait 2 years to get a hysterectomy, and they won't cover rehab specailist b/c PT "failed". But rehab doc is not PT. Wish I could get them to bend to my will, but I am not that good, alas! I have sicc'd DH on them, tho'. HAH! He will soft-talk them into submission!

Lor, hope your DD gets some relief! Will keep a good thought!
Chris, yaay! (And I agree on the protest, oops, mods might see that...)
Ging, we should call this the Say Anything forum, feel free to vent on any topic!
Bella, just tell the guy what my mom told my DH when she met him. She picked upa pair of kitchen shears, and clicked them twice while saying, "Get her in trouble, and SNIP SNIP!" ;)
Sorry for missing anyone, I got to go grab ice packs. Silly endo and PMS have my back screaming. I think the endo must be somehow pushing on a spinal nerve or two, it's very creepy-weird. See what GYN says next week. At least there's ONE doc who is SUPPOSED to be obsessed with my uterus!

Well, can't think straight, gotta go fuel up with cocoa. It's perfect weather for open windows and cuddly blankets here. Ahhh.

          new glasses finally!

Wow, we seem to be back on posting! yeah!!!!

Had housemate pick up my new glasses & I can finally see blades of grass & leaves on trees! however the bifocal part is not doing so well so hard for me to read now. I can see the football scores though!

Amanda Knox has been on every station here for so long I'm tired of it. since she's from Seattle it's been a huge issue here the past 4 yrs. I'm glad she's home now & know she will be a productive member of society now rather than rot in an Italian prison.

we had a little scare in the small town I live near. locked down the entire town looking for a murder suspect. rumor's were rampant of course. he killed both his 80yr old grandfather's! he's in custody now on the island my son lives on. very sad for all involved.

Chris, about time you let us know what's happenin'!!!! good for BF getting a job. you're gonna be getting a package soon as I get it all together, will give you something to do? I realize you have more than your share of "stuff" but hopefully it will be fun for you. I was wondering about the disability you've fought for so long over, think of it as money in the bank!

Bella,I don't have daughter's so no advice on BC pills. weren't available when I was her age. why do you think I became a mother just before my 19th BD? take her to a clinic! make the BF go also?

Ging, none of us would be here if our lives were "normal". hope you will benefit from BT as much as we do! I live with someone showing signs of dementia & it's not a good thing!

have decided to put off my "final" sale until the 15th. my eye still looks like I was in a fight & no desire to explain it to everyone. closing my business is too depressing for me to handle right now.housemate won't be leaving until the 19th this year for hunting.....I can hardly wait to have my annual break!

Dawn, have you ever tried taking B12? might ask your doc? it does help me. your cabin sounds nice! wondering how your daughter's are doing? one of my housemate's grandkid's goes to college in Bozeman.

          ((((hugs to all))) Pati

            Pati,

I took to the clinic but she is refusing, I spoke to both of them, and told the BF that since he is the oldest of the two and the one with more if not all the experience, it was his responsibility to make sure and get on some sort of BC ASAP. That thye will both be in a whole lot of trouble if she turns up with a belly before she finishes College, lets see what he does.

I am glad that the forum is starting to pick up again, it had been down for so long.

I am also glad tha Amanada Knox is out and back home, but I agree there is something on the news everytday about her, let that girl go back to a normal life without the benefits of a camera on her face.

            Have a nice day everyone.

              behind

I've been off line so much lately and I have got so behind with the news! I want to respond to all but my time is about up. Just know I care about you all and I care about what is going on with you.

Ging, I'm glad to see you have joined us here and hope you will decide to stay. I also saw you in the Alzheimer's Forum and was sorry about your husband, but glad you have joined us there. I tell you, that forum was a life-saver for me for years. I stared there in 1999. I met Jeannie in the Forums about that time. Lost contact then found her again in the Alzheimer's F. It's hard to believe I helped care for my MIL all those years, but the girls there were a God send to me over and over.

Lil Queenie, it's so good to see you. I've missed talking to you. I love the pictures you have posted. Your yard looks like a piece of heaven to me. I loved your "memory garden" you made for your Mom. You have been a beautiful daughter to her. ((lil' Queenie))

Dawn dear, my shrink gives me my anti-depression meds. I was seeing him before my neuro surgern sent me to the Pain Mang. Dr. HE knew my daughter and had worked with her at the hospital. Had all of that not been new to him at the time I don't think he would have given me anti-d's and xanax. He don't dare take me off them now! You may have to get something from a Phsy. Good luck

I read the book "the HELP". I also read it fast, over 500 pages! Being from the south, so much of it felt real and I felt so much shame for the way certain people were treated. I thought the book was well written and I enjoyed reading it.

Pati, I got to find out where the best place is to buy SeaHawk thing's. They have a new hoodie and I want to order Jon one for Christmas.

Well, the old back is screaming so I'll close for now. If I missed anybody I didn't mean to. It is just good to see so many of you posting.

              all my love, Jo

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I went to the Alzheimer's forum because I needed information from people who have experience with this, and I gained much and will be back and forth there to gather as much information and arm myself with the elder care stuff that I can, but here, is my safe place to land when I want to get " we understand how you are feeling" I have a brain aneurysm and have been a supporter on that forum for years, this I know first hand about and can cheer, cry and give cyber hugs of support to my aneurysm buddies, but it never occurred to me there was a forum for the emotions that pile up just from life's challenges, sometimes it's hard to be up all the time or positive all the time, sometimes you want to crawl into a fetal position and lick your wounds, then go back and face the world the next day, and hope you can be a little stronger!
Yes I am glad I cruised the forums and found one that just
takes on all the stuff that comes with a life altering condition.thank you all, it
Will take me awhile to remember everyone, but ,you all are great ! (((GING))))

what do y'all think? (another dog saga)

ging,we can't do anything for your annie or your DH's dementia but we sure will be here for support & I'm very glad you found this forum! some of us have been here for years & of course we all have health issues.

now today my dog Freckle's went to Petsmart for her grooming. well they managed to cut her ear. so called me for premission to see their vet. of course I said yes. I can't even find the cut! but my dilema (sp) is the meds. as some of you know my dog Rags was put down last Dec. from taking meds that caused internal bleeding. so I researched this med (Rimadyl) and don't like what I read. I'm leaning towards NOT giving her any of this drug. it's for arthritis & is a NSAID. not anti-bacterial so what's the point? she's not trying to get at her ear, whining or acting like in pain. what do you think?

Jo, what a surprise to see some posts from you!! sorry your back is so bad but hope you can stand to type more often & keep up with all that's going on! I feel bad I didn't get you a card! this is not the right thread but if you want to get your son Seahawk's stuff you will probably have to go online to NFL gear & order it?

Bella, I would NOT rely on your daughter's BF to take care of BC. not sure why she won't go to a clinic but it's time she faces reality......the guy doesn't get pregnant afterall!

gotta go fix dinner......thanks for any replies to my med question.

Bella, please read this, might help with your daughter

Bella, you may want to have this conversation with your daughter. My mom gave it to my sis and me. Tell her and maybe also her boyfriend.... they have to ask three questions before sex. The first is: "Do I want to have babies with this person?" The second is "Do I want to catch a disease from this person?" The third is "Do I want to have sex with every person this other person has had sex with?" Then tell them he HAS to waer a condom and she HAS to have the pill, or they are not safe from ANY of these outcomes. Condoms and birth control pills combined are the only safe option if abstinence isn't happening. (Remember, the 97 percent effective numbers given for pills and condoms come from controlled lab settings, not real life, when people forget etc.) If your daughter still won't go to a clinic to get BC, then tell her she is ON HER OWN when she gets pregnant or sick, since she's made that choice. Also, I hate to ask, but I have a cousin who was like this---coiuld she WANT to get pregnant, hoping BF will marry her and she'll have some kind of fairy tale ending? Even very smart women can be very dumb when a man is involved. (Saw my sister and cousins surrender 100 IQ points each about men at one point or another. Oy.)

                    Hope I did not offend.

Pati, a friend grooms for PetSmart, they have to report every possible nick and cut to avoid lawsuits, do what you think is best for the dog. :) NSAIDs are hard on any species, I'd follow your gut, you know your dog.:)
Ging, before you curl up, come here and we will give you some emotional cuddles:)
Jo, the Help was impossible to get at our local library, I've heard some folks around here LOL and some hate it b/c it shows some hard old truths.... I hope it's worth the waiting list I'm on! (Six weeks to go....)
Dawn, wish you didn't have to face a life of the big D, but am glad your pdoc was honest! Don't worry, I know the awy it feels to realize it's with you for good, sending hugs!
If I missed anyone, sorry, pain is awful today, had to repair grout in bathroom b/c DH is a crash waiting to happen---and of course I couldn't get in a good position without hurting my poor wounded pelvis... ACK. Meanwhile, HMO won't authorize any more tests at ALL unless I have THREE doc signatures. Sheesh.

                    Smiles,
                    Leo

                      Hi friends,

Just thought I'd drop in and let you all know I'm still among the living. I'm trying to keep very busy and succeeding. I've joined a book discussion group and I am really enjoying that . We have a good topic,, the 7 deadly sins. We read two short stories and relate it to one of the sins. Last meeting was about pride and this meeting will be about envy. I found this group at the library. No cost so it is right in my budget.

I've also began to exercise everyday. I use my exercise ball with my home DVD's. I have a few DVD's with various workouts but I'm still working with the beginning level. I'm about ready to move on to harder workouts but I just want to master where I am at. After my bout of CFS I lost all my strength so I am just taking my time and not over doing it. Otherwise I would give up.

The weather is perfect this week and will stay this way for another 6 days they say. I need to get at my gardens and start to prepare them for winter. I really did well with all my flowers this year.

My little dog Austin has been having trouble keeping his front leg in postition. It pops out of joint and I have to pop it back in. It don't seem to hurt him but every so often he will limp on three legs and it is time for me to reset it. I now sleep on the couch at night so I can be available for him when it happens through the night.

Things seems to be going good for me lately. No major problems , just trying to keep active and keep my moods stable.

Hugs to everyone ,, I will try to keep up with you all more. I haven't been avoiding you just trying to change my lifestyle alittle.

                      Dee

Bella, Your DD knows she always might get pregnant if they have sex...ask her if she would rather have all those responsibilities of having a child (you know which ones to illuminate) instead of 'having fun' when she wants. And did you say she is going to college? Ask her if she wants to just forget it about her dream job, cuz Jr needs her at certain times (depending on his age) (she can't tell her boss 'I gotta go home early cuz Jr is coughing & might be sick....or when he is a bit older, say I can't come in tonight cuz Jr is in the school play & I want to watch). If there is no Jr she is free to go where she wants when she wants (except for her job). The same thing if she marries him (but they are young). Also he would 'get to' take some responsibility for a child. To a guy the main thing is having to work & 'give up' his money for a kid. I wonder if he wants this? Like U say, at least BC & condom is more protection. Tell them this stuff.

A guy just gave me an estimate on cleaning gutters then getting those gutter guards...it would be $850. John comes home today so I must wait & tell him. He flew there but is driving home in a new used car. Our DD goes to college & her car broke down. She is to pay back though. It was cheaper to get the car in the small town down there than to get one here in this semi-big city. Also he knows more what stuff to look for in a good car than me or Lisa. He won't be home long so can't go out here to look, anyway.

Well you guys I really screwed things up now. I've been getting tendinitis in my left elbow for about two weeks now well yesterday I decided to take a couple of pain pills so that I can work on my flowerbeds, one of them anyway, about 2' x9' tried to be careful, baby my elbow but By the time I got done doing what little bit I could my whole entire arm hurt from my fingertips to my shoulder so today. I have it wrapped up nice and snug in an Ace bandage and then made a sling out of another ace bandage. The last time I got this it took a year to get it back to normal. I have to baby this as best I can but I am going absolutely nuts because both feet and ankles are about worthless and now I'm down to one arm.

Bella my mom took me to get my birth control pills at 14 I was very unhappy. It was humiliating and painful and I was very angry. The only reason she did it was because my 14 -year-old cousin had been having unsafe sex and at 15 wound up pregnant. Now my son is a different story I regularly took him and his girlfriend to the clinic and made them both go in and see separate doctors so that she could stay on birth control pills and he got free condoms through his insurance and I told him to tell me if he ever ran out of condoms because I would see to it that he got some, don't need no grand-babies. They were a bit embarrassed but grateful.

If I were you I would tell her no more dating until she sees the doctor and if she and her boyfriend want to see each other has to be done at home where there is an adult

Pati I'm glad that you can see now with your new glasses. I am looking forward to my surprise I so rarely get them, good ones anyway LOL. I imagine it is hard to give up your sales every year. One less hassle that you have to deal with, more time do things you like then again you really like your little store so I guess that doesn't really work out what do I know?

I forgot to mention that General Motors here in Flint actually accepted the BF's application, he passed the testing and the interview so they sent him a letter saying they will keep him on their list of new hires and just before they decide to call him they will ask for a drug test. His new job has been informed that there is a possibility that he could get hired at GM and all they ask is at two weeks notice if not then at least a week.

I don't know if I told you guys that I attempted to adopt a pure blood corgi but when I brought him home he tried to kill my dog so we got him on a Friday and I rehomed him on Sunday to another couple who had a bigger dog and another corgi. Had too keep them apart for two days.

I am looking forward to using the album in the forum. I have a ridiculous amount of pictures and I've been wanting to post them for you guys. Finally emptied my camera. The poor thing had over for 400 pictures, almost 500.

The leaves here are changing and the geese have been coming in slowly but surely. By the end of fall the pond will probably be covered. And get been getting a lot of turkeys out here we've got like 6 or 7 female turkeys that hang out in yard and I still have not seen the male so I am thinking he is gone . For longest time I only saw two older female turkeys but today there were six of them in all. There are four of them that look kind of young. I am hoping the mail is just really shy. The females have discovered where my birdfeeder spills seed on the ground they like to come and eat it.

Time to go. Back soon hopefully

OK Bella I think the idea of saying no more dating until clinic visit & BC is a great idea myself! kid's these days think they know it all, well we know better don't we? she's probably afraid of the exam, the people @ the clinic are experts so they will know how to handle it.

Lor,tried to answer on your other thread (about FIL). couldn't post so here's my 2 cents: call the local Dept. of Social Services, find the Adult/Senior Services dept. talk to a caseworker. maybe have a list ready so you don't forget anything? let the caseworker advise. they can do a home visit & assess FIL's needs. then take it from there. I know John spents alot of time helping his father (so do you & your kid's). what about the siblings? seems in every family there are those that do everything & those that do nothing! and how is your DD's rash?

Chris, down to one arm now eh? well keep it imobile! (is that a word?) must be fun to watch the turkeys! maybe Shortcake would like to help in the flower beds? you just stand there & grit your teeth & give orders. sounds like BF is doing well & going forward! good for all of you. I'm glad you want the package, now just have to get it ready & mailed.......I dread giving up my little business cause it's been my only social interaction for many years now.looking forward to seeing your pic's!

Dee,good for you staying busy & getting motivated to exercise! must be hard to see your doggie suffer. didn't realize you had a garden space. my flowers were all a mess this year cause the weather was so strange.

one thing that bugs me about Petsmart is the change of groomer's every single time we go there! and cocker's do tend to bite. the vet costs was covered by Petsmart so I figured it was a matter of liability. I dumped the pills, better safe than sorry afterall.

Chris,I've always wanted a Corgi! must have been a nerve wracking weekend.

raining here off & on. nothing but dreary days ahead for us.

we have a new cat in the neighborhood. big white male with black spots. he's HUGE. had a little showdown with my cat last night. until I let Freckle's out-she chased it away real quick. don't want it spraying in my shop!

hope y'all will be having a good weekend!

oops, Leo ya gotta keep fighting the HMO,get those 3 doc's to sign whatever it takes. it's gonna be a long winter if you're in constant pain & cannot force yourself to NOT be doing stuff like grouting a shower!
