hey everyone
!
i found out something interesting by reading around the forums this morning. when you click on any forum and get to the "threads page", there are envelopes in front of each thread. if you have posted in that thread, there will be a green arrow on that envelope. so now if you forgot where you posted, look for the green arrow on the envelope!
pati, to get to your mail box where your pm's are, just click on "Notifications" to the right of your name in the upper right hand corner of the page. a drop down box will appear that says, "Inbox". click on that and you'll get to your messages. oh, i'd love the sue grafton "U" book and the book "help"...that should round out my winter reading as i have so many books from the book sale and christmas presents that i haven't even read! thank you, pati!
i am going to make a red velvet cake with crean cheese frosting for my daughter's 26th birthday. it's on the 12th, but we're celebrating today because she's going on vacation for a whole week to louisiana.
i was outside the last 3 days for almost 5 hours a day. yesterday i dug up the irises i found underneath the metal shed and that i planted in a small space just to let them grow and leaf out. well, i planted them TOO close, and yesterday i sat and gently separated roots and plants. i have about 50 baby corms, most as small as a black bean. i'm going to plant those in a separate place for next year, just so they can grow a bigger root. then i'll transplant them again. i'm transplanting the bigger ones today in their permanent spot and i will plant them 1 ft. apart! now i know what one person said on this gardening website about giving away a barrelful of irises! they do multiply.
i also planted the peony bush my friend gave me. i don't hink i'll keep it there, but i just wanted to plant it somewhere it would get a lot of sun and bloom next year. it's a very shallow rooted bush, so no probs digging it up.
we were driving home from meijer on friday after shopping and my husband saw a vulture flying! i didn't cause i was checking out the grocery bill...lol. i did see a coast guard helicopter, though, as we are pretty close to selfridge national air force base.
so, off i go to make cake
!
hope you all have a good football sunday!
thank you for sharing and caring
,
jeannie

! i don't know what went wrong since i use a base of cooked milk and flour and first beat the sugar and butter and cream cheese together then add the cooked flour and milk base. it should have been a buttercream-like frosting, but it slid off the cake, mostly. i am pi**ed. it tasted good though, but i take pride in my baking and this just doesn't sit right with me.
. i'm happy to say i have 2 responsible adult daughters.
