    hey everyone !

i found out something interesting by reading around the forums this morning. when you click on any forum and get to the "threads page", there are envelopes in front of each thread. if you have posted in that thread, there will be a green arrow on that envelope. so now if you forgot where you posted, look for the green arrow on the envelope!

pati, to get to your mail box where your pm's are, just click on "Notifications" to the right of your name in the upper right hand corner of the page. a drop down box will appear that says, "Inbox". click on that and you'll get to your messages. oh, i'd love the sue grafton "U" book and the book "help"...that should round out my winter reading as i have so many books from the book sale and christmas presents that i haven't even read! thank you, pati!

i am going to make a red velvet cake with crean cheese frosting for my daughter's 26th birthday. it's on the 12th, but we're celebrating today because she's going on vacation for a whole week to louisiana.

i was outside the last 3 days for almost 5 hours a day. yesterday i dug up the irises i found underneath the metal shed and that i planted in a small space just to let them grow and leaf out. well, i planted them TOO close, and yesterday i sat and gently separated roots and plants. i have about 50 baby corms, most as small as a black bean. i'm going to plant those in a separate place for next year, just so they can grow a bigger root. then i'll transplant them again. i'm transplanting the bigger ones today in their permanent spot and i will plant them 1 ft. apart! now i know what one person said on this gardening website about giving away a barrelful of irises! they do multiply.

i also planted the peony bush my friend gave me. i don't hink i'll keep it there, but i just wanted to plant it somewhere it would get a lot of sun and bloom next year. it's a very shallow rooted bush, so no probs digging it up.

we were driving home from meijer on friday after shopping and my husband saw a vulture flying! i didn't cause i was checking out the grocery bill...lol. i did see a coast guard helicopter, though, as we are pretty close to selfridge national air force base.

so, off i go to make cake!

hope you all have a good football sunday!

thank you for sharing and caring ,
    jeannie

Chistina, I got tendonitis once. From constently wring out a mop at work. With arm out & resting on the arm of the couch, I couldn't even hold an empty coffee mug, for lack of strength. The Dr. had me not use that arm for one year. I really hope your BF gets that job too. / Buttons, I wrote to you on my thread. / Jeannie. Today is my DD's birthday. I was going to make a cake but we still have cupcakes. We already had a nice BD dinner when we took her out to eat. (She had cheesecake for dessert ;) ) / I'm lucky I don't hurt now. The night before last I got up to push the backairing deck door closed. I was dark & I stepped out & missed the step. I went tumbling down those 3 step, arround the landing & down 4 or 5 of the 'main steps' (I stopped myself, luckily). Since I bruise easily I started to massage my thigh that hit the wall. I then thought, I'll go downstairs & hold ice on my shoulder/neck too, so maybe it will hurt less in the morning. I sat on the couch holding a pack of frozen peas on my leg & a pack of frozen noodle-chicken stuff of my neck. I haven't seen 3 episodes of Roseanne before.

Lisa's ex BF just sent a breakup Email. He wrote 'Maybe we shouldn't see each other anymore. You're too good for me'. How rude

Gee, No one has been here since yesterday afternoon, and it is now 5:30pm. I was just going to mention that I made some chili today. Lisa just had some & said it was too spicey. Steve just added ghost peppers (hottest pepper there is. Hotter than jalapeno's). He is now coughing, but likes it cuz it 'cleans out his sinuses'. Do you remember "The Munsters"? I watched it after I made the chili. I looked it up & Eddy (the boy) is now 58.

Ok, let me see if I answer a few points given, which I appreciate very much. My daughter took the class in school where she had to bring a baby doll home for a week, and that thing was more noisy and bothersome than both my kids combine, she did not sleep for the whole week since that doll really had a mind of her own, so I think she got the message on that. She does not want to have a baby until after she finishes College, she told me so herself. I do not know for certain if they are having sex or not, but I would not bet on abstinence with those 2. I have been trying to get her on the pill for 2 years now, and she first told me that she was not having any and she did not see the reason why she had to get on BC until she did. During the summer I took her to the doctor and told her that since she was starting College she better get on the pil, she did not have a boyfriend at that time. She explained to me that everybody she knows that takes BC has gotten ugly or fat and she does not want that for her. Told her that there are many ways to have BC and that she could try the pill, shots, patch or ring and see what was the best for her. The doctor wroked on her but told me to not push her, that it was the worse mistake. So I let it drop for the moment.

Now that she has a boyfriend that is older than her, I told them that she has Insurance, she can go anywhere she wants, I do not need to be there, that they need to get condoms and she need to go on some sort of BC ASAP, that she better not come home with a belly before she finishes College and that if she did they are on their own. I am not going to say anything else. I do not want to prohibit anything, because of the way I grew up, my parents did not let me do anything, and I mean nothing, I was a prisioner during my youth, and I rebel so bad that I made decisions on my youth that now I regret. I also got married very young so I could get away from my parents hard hands; I promise myself that I would never do to any of my kids what my parents did to me and prohibiting boyfriends ranks on the very top of my list. So all I can hope for is that she sticks to her plans, of Collge first and foremost, and the boyfriend can wait for later; she promise to go see the doctor and see what she could get. As for the boyfriend, i will give him credit so far, he is more mature and seems to have a good head on is shoulders, he had already told her the same thing and he seems to have the stronger hand in that relationship, which is what my DD needs, somebody who can handle her and guide her, so for now I will wait and see. But thank you for all the advice I read it all and it goes with what I have done at home. As far as I do not have to prohibit anything that I know will cause me more problems, then I am all for it.

Bella, there's not much you can do when your daughter is eighteen. I think your handling it the way I would.

Not much is happening here. The weather has been in the upper 70's which is warm for this time of the year. I'm not complaining at all. I still have take the bulbs in yet. I figure I still have time. We are going to be back normal at the end of the week.

We had a first on Monday. A vacuum salesman, who was also selling air puriftiers (?), come to our house. I dropped the old jaw when he told us how much the vacuum cost. Just the vacuum a lone was $2100. Now if I was going to spend that much on one it best do the job all by its self. My gosh, I still can't believe it. My husband said he was sold on it until the price came around. I was thinking around six hundred for the thing. Needless to say he was out the door.

The sad part about it I think my FIL had brought one like it. He's in his eighties and his girlfriend wanted one. So off they went and brought it. I still can't get over the cost he must have spent on it. Oh well it's his money and for all I care he can spend all of it before he dies. Then we don't have to go through what we did with my family.

Oh My God! How old is your FIL's gf? I was about to say (like John says) 'oh well, he only has a few years so let him have what he wants' (for instance whole milk & frozen cake every day --- not to good for health though). But then I thought,I bet that money could have been used in a better way.

My son carried a 'baby' all over, because of that class. He got many looks & stares at Burger King. It's not weird now, about every kid does that now.

LOL Lor, I actually got kicked out of a restaurant while waiting for my DD to come out of soccer practice. We were eating at a bagel place while she came out. That baby cried de whole time and the owner of the joint asked me "To please leave, since my baby was disrupting her other customers". LOL my youngest daughter look at me and told me that I had embarrased her, and to just please stay away from her, while I had that thing with me.

Lor, I think the fil's gf is in her late 70's. I was going to also tell you that my DD's ex broke up with her on facebook. He took her off of who he was in a relationship part and then she knew he had broken up with her. Can't these young adults do it in person or at least over the phone. lol

Dawn, Wow, over FB? CRUEL. Of course, it's no fun over phone, either.... I think guys prefer it at a distance so they don't have to answer questions!
LaBella, that is kinda funny! When we had to do the "baby" thing at our school (for health class), it was just cabbage patch dolls....Nowadays, it's so different!

Here, my HMO denied a test and the doc who ordered it is out of town on vacay, so no hope of figuring that out soon.... and I see my GYN tomorrow to decide what to do about the endometriosis...then the rehab doc Monday to see if he can find out what is injured so we can finally fix it! Oy, I am already worn out....

Interesting thing on the rehab specialist---everyone assumes he's a physical therapist. Nope. He's an MD who specialized in orthopedics and got into rehab medicine, possibly b/c PT people often only need a 1 or 2-year degree... and his partner in the practice came in from military medicine, saw a lot of trauma. Hopefully they will hear ME and not just get stuck on my uterus as the cause of all ills. Men! Honestly!

Hope everyone has a good week. Pray for me---DH is on vacay next week! EEEK!

                          ((hi Dawn))

My goodness, that boy wasn't worthy of your DD, breaking up on FaceBook! I would call him a coward!! Where did these young people's manner's go? I know many still have nice manners, but some don't even know what the word means!!

Did that Vacum cleaner happen to be a Kirby? sounds like it. Try prey on older folk. I'm older folk, but I have one down in the garage, came up with my MIL's stuff when we moved her. Boy was I angry when I found out someone talked her into that deal!! Now I don't want the thing, it is almost new. I wish one of K's sisters would come get it.

Lor, I hope you are getting better from your fall. You be careful. I fell down my Mom's step the day she died. Just 1 step, but the way I fell it hurt my hip and back. Little brother tried to haul me off to ER, but I hurt too bad to go.

                          Take care all, Julia

                            door to door sales people......

those Kirby vac's weigh a ton! when I cleaned houses I made it clear I would never use one. I think they prey on lonely old people and the price is too much by far.

well I'm supposed to be getting ready for my last sale. not at all enthused! weather has turned totally yucky here & I'm ready to hibernate.

have any of you heard about the young woman that faked a pregnancy in HS? today I heard they will make a movie of her experience. she did it as a class project & very few people knew the truth. these dolls some of you have mentioned aren't anything I had experience with. why would they make a doll that cries all the time?

my cat was gone over 24 hrs & we were freaked out she became coyote fodder. she came back with signs she'd been with a male cat. and of course no sign lately of the strange big white cat. my housemate threatened to shoot it but of course I would NOT allow that!

Leo,I will be thinking of you & hoping a little angel is sitting on your shoulder all of next week (or is it this week now?) guys just have to be kept busy. and a good way to keep them out of your hair is a "honey do" list......they tend to find lots of stuff to do AWAY from home then.

Joy, I saw mums on sale for $2 ea. @ Wal Mart & thought of you! I resisted since they don't do well in rain. well for that matter nothing with blooms do.

Jo, I'm glad you have given up on Facebook. we'll try to keep you entertained OK?

hope everyone is having a good week!

                              hey everyone !

i have planted all the irises i think i will ever need. i still have about 30 of them *confused. i also don't know where in the heck to plant my baby's breath. it needs a 3 foot space for EACH plant!

i made the red velvet cake for my daughter's birthday. the cake turned out great, my icing did not set ! i don't know what went wrong since i use a base of cooked milk and flour and first beat the sugar and butter and cream cheese together then add the cooked flour and milk base. it should have been a buttercream-like frosting, but it slid off the cake, mostly. i am pi**ed. it tasted good though, but i take pride in my baking and this just doesn't sit right with me.

bella, i'm with you about forbidding young adults from doing things or taking privileges away. seems the more you forbid them to do, the more you push them to doing it. i told my 2 girls, (when i knew they were dating) all about the dangers of unprotected sex. i said, if you're going to be sexually active, see the doctor and use birth control and that condoms do not prevent sexually transmitted diseases. i didn't want to know if they were having sex, but a mom knows these things. most of all, i told them sex without love or care or monogamy was pretty much like red-velvet cake with crappy icing . i'm happy to say i have 2 responsible adult daughters.

leo! sorry your physical problems seem to have no end in sight yet. with hubby home, maybe you can get him to do some stuff for you? how is your mom doing? you haven't mentioned her lately and that makes me feel hinky...like something's wrong.

pati, i do hope your last sale is okay. mark down stuff to get rid of it! julia...you take care of yourself! dawn, it always sounds like you're talking about michigan when you mention the weather there...lol. we get what you had about a day later.

even worse than vacuum cleaner salesmen are these people who target senior citizen's with official looking government mail that says on the front, "senators plan to take social security from you!" or similar stuff and want you to donate money to their cause. their letter's are very pressured and scary. my mom donated $5 to one of these places and she got put on a list that sent her more. i had to take over her mail and i wrote "deceased" on the front and "return to sender". they have to pay the return postage. no more mail form them. my mom doesn't even know how to write a check or mail a letter anymore, so it doesn't matter.

                              sometimes it all just sucks.

thank you for sharing and caring,
