OT November Chit Chat

We had about an inch or snow this morning. It is now 1:02 P.M. and it has all melted off. And the temp has risen to 35 deg. The hwy departments have gone to using deicer sprayed before it snows as here it snows temps go up and then drop considerably at night forming black ice, I have been told that while it is much more effective than salt it is twice as corrosive as salt. So we keep the pressure washer in the garage and wash the undercarriage of the cars and trucks down. My son lived up north while he was going to college and they have a lot more snow up in Moscow, Idaho than down here in the flat land and I see more rust showing up on his car than any of ours.

I am seriously thinking about getting rid of satellite TV and just using antenna for local channels and a PC or something for any of the other channels. I think that I should be able to record stuff similar to the way I do with the satellite. . The price has gotten out of control. Any thoughts? I pay for internet anyway and I do watch a number of stuff off the net as it is. We have gotten into the habit of recording everything and fast forward through the commercials. I am a wiz with the remote!

We usually have just or immediate family for Thanksgiving and we have it on Friday as both the kids work at the hospital and they get double time and a half. We have some of the extended family for Christmas eve dinner but this year we are thinking of doing it buffet style and mostly having finger food stuff. It seems like we have so much hors d'oeuvres that by the time we sit down and eat no one is hungry anyway. Less work more time for visiting so it should be a win-win.

Well of course. And I just about have enough white in my beard plus I don't need any padding!

:) We broke a heat record again today at 90 and very humid. I am ready for some fall or winter weather. Jim installed a new mailbox post and Andy is coming tomorrow to paint it and blow off my carport and driveway. Jim and Carla will have their 34th Anniversary this coming Saturday.

They took a few days and drove down to Homestead and plan to see the Coral castle, Airboat in the Everglades, etc. They will be back Friday.

I sure wish we could skip Christmas this year. I am only doing stockings and putting money in each one along with the candies and fruits.

:) Yes Vicky anything is better than 90. Andy came and painted the mailbox post and blew off the porch and driveway and trimmed all the front bushes. I just got online to see what y'all are up to and I am going to go take a nap. Have a good weekend everyone. Jeanie :)

some places in Iowa got over a foot of snow,, and now we get high gusty winds too,, we got 10 inches, which is enough,,{ Thanks Gary},,lol we have Thanksgiving tomorrow with his side of the family,,

renee, I noticed that you posted in another thread and would like to know how you're doing? I hope the recovery from surgery is going along smoothly without any setbacks.

Well...Plumbing issues being dealt with here today. We were wakened by banging pipes and radiators when the heat came on at 6 am this morning. There was no hot water yesterday morning so David added water to the system and overfilled it. This morning he purged it to get levels back to where they should be and when he dumped buckets down the kitchen sink, the water ran out of the cupboard and across the kitchen floor. Clean out under the sink, take off the disposal, snake out the pipes (crud there) go down to the basement and uncap the waste pipe leaving the house, snake that (crud there), put things back together and use plumbing gently for the rest of the day. He is off to home depot now to pick up plumber's tape (which he apparently is out of) and a sealant.

Lovely here with bright sunshine, temps near 50, and gorgeous color on the ground (Dave wants to work on leaves himself this year rather than hiring someone as he's done the past couple of years.

Agate, my avatar is just one I found online. I have MANY pictures saved to my pictures folder. I always have a picture background on my start page. I usually change it everyday.

No one ever even sees my start page but me, but I enjoy doing it.
