But where's Howie? Here he is with the sad news of the day. And I thought they would be a Hollywood exception!

"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fans were left reeling Tuesday morning after news broke that the couple is getting divorced."

Now what happens to all the kids they adopted? It's sad for that reason!

The days of cheap parts are long gone unless you drive an antique car like Pinky. It has one brake switch. $2.50. You press the brake pedal, the pedal pushes the switch, and the brake lights come on.

      Oh the days of simplicity.

Good luck with your surgery Cat, I hope it turns out GREAT, and then some!
Oh. Never thought of that! I was talking about the lights on the dashboard, that indicate the emergency brake is engaged, and then ABS, and then a little slidey car, indicating that the antilock brakes are engaged (they aren't) . But didn't think about the brake lights on the outside... we'll have to check that!

Yikes, car people have to concern themselves with so many details--I don't know how you find time and energy for anything else that is complicated. Computers are bad enough.

I'm so detached from the real world that I had to look up ABS and find out that it's the anti-lock braking system.

--I'm taking part in another study. This one has no guaranteed compensation but there's a lottery I'm entered in every time I fill out a questionnaire, and there are at least two questionnaires every day for a year. I have a 1 in 3 chance of winning some cash in the lottery.

Since the topic is one I find interesting, and the questionnaires don't take long, I was on board with this one. It's a study being done at a university--about how people sleep, what it is that they're doing that makes it possible for them to sleep well.

We're just lucky, probably, but since they're studying this, maybe they'll come up with some useful information.

I thought ABS was A Big Stop. Just kidding.

In that study, do you keep track for say a month at a time, and then send it in?

I did the Neilson TV thing once. You kept a record of what you watched on TV.

For the Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie followers, it looks as if there will be a major custody battle. Are the kids having fun yet?

As for the study I'm in, I log in at the Website a couple of times a day and fill out a questionnaire asking a few questions about how I slept and how sleepy I am during the day, and sometimes there are a few more questionnaires about health to fill out but it's no problem.

I had a chance to be in one of those Nielsen arrangements some time ago but I gave up on it. Somehow it seemed too much like real work.

It does keep you busy. They accidently sent me another questionnaire, or maybe it was to see if I would keep doing it, but a week was enough for me. So I kept that second questionnaire as proof I had done it once. (I can't spell today)

But Howie, you can spell questionnaire. That's an achievement.

:) The AOL news said today that Brad got drunk on their plane and abused the kids, so Angelina filed the next day. Maybe this will shock Brad enough that he will go to treatment and get sober. Jeanie :)

I just made it back from the dump and store. I took my change to their coin-star that counts change. I got 97 cents back in change after shopping, and that's every penny Howie has until payday. I now have food to last me, but will go without beer until then also.

Most importantly, I got Sam her cheese! Whew, that was close!
