ANN, it's good to know that Virginia will be back! Too bad she's not feeling up to posting. We're here for people who don't feel up to much though.

    Feel better soon, Virginia!

stillstANNding, believe it or not, these ruins are inhabited--to borrow a title from a book I read once.

And isn't this an anniversary for you and PizzaGuy? (Now I can't remember why he was called PizzaGuy! Or maybe he wasn't?)

        Anyway, to you both, a
        VERY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

          Thank you, Agate!

He made me a homemade pizza every Friday night while I gave my Avonex. He was needle phobic. I say "was" because he has given my Copaxone injections, in places I can't reach, for many years now.

It is my 2nd Anniversary w him and we have now been together for 34 years.

It's great that he can help with the shot. Some of those injection sites are hard to reach as I recall. At least the Copaxone needle is a lot less intimidating than the Avonex one.

I hope this doesn't mean that guy no longer makes homemade pizzas....

We don't eat pizza as often, Agate. We have a small Whole Foods in the neighborhood now. If we feel like having pizza we each get a slice. No more sharing an entire pizza.

What's going on with and around the rest of you today?

It's in the mid-50s today and I'm cold!

It's pouring rain here so hard at times, I can hardly hear the TV. And off and on thunder boomers. This is Summer saying goodbye until next year. And just now, I think I'm getting hail. The cats and I am having a hail of a time!

Well, it's official: Home Health services (nurse, physical therapist, home health aide) has discharged me as their patient. Well, it will be official as of October 4. They claim I'm well, strong, don't need them anymore.

It's been 4 years since one or the other home health services have been coming to my home, from 4 days a week down to twice a month, now. Two near -death experiences, shingles, 2 nursing home stays, 5 surgeries, one catheter, one colostomy...and a partridge in a pear tree... Well, maybe not that last thing.

Now I am struggling a bit to realize that I can "get back to normal"...put in quotes, as "normal" today is not near what "normal" was 4 years ago, when I was driving (with hand controls), didn't have bags hanging off my belly or my leg, was able to dress myself, bathe myself, move in and out of bed myself..... But "normal". No more visits by health care workers. No more having to justify trips out of the home that weren't health related (the rationale there: if you're well enough to go out of the house "for fun" you're well enough not to need them). No more having to work out meals or other in-home events around visits. "Normal".

Now, I'm still going to be going to physical therapy twice a week for 6-8 weeks (not clear about that). And I have to arrange with the local hospital to have them change my catheter once a month. (And presumably, if I had catheter issues..like, it fell out..they'd be where I'd go to have it replaced). And then I have to continue therapy...exercises..forever. I really really hope I will get strong enough to be able to transfer into my car and drive again...I feel "captive" when I know I can't go off and do something myself.

Bottom line. I lived. Somehow I managed to live through all this, and came back to some sort of "normal" life. It's been tough. It's still going to be tough. But I'm alive.
...I am not a doctor nor medical professional, and don't pretend to be one, here... :o

I am so glad that you lived, Cat. And happy that you are "here."

Although the "normal" will be a new normal, you can relax w Tom Cat and the felines without interruption.

                          Congratulations and enjoy yourself.

I'm sure everyone here is very glad that you stayed alive through all of the ordeals of recent years, Cat. With time and more care and more PT, you'll probably get back to where you used to be. Yes, driving and all!
