Weather is warm here today, but it looks cloudy out. I have not been out, just looking through windows. Then I realized that this is the smoke coming from fires that have been burning in Western NC in the mountains. I would be (just guessing) probably 175 miles from closest fire. I had heard on news earlier in the week that it was distinct and that air quality is bad in a town about 80 miles from here. I think it has reached us.

It seems amazing that a fire can cause haze and smell of smoke so far away. Nuthatch can probably relate to this because they have many fires in her State, and now I realize that even though they might be far away some aspects of them can be felt.

At Mom's it was 72 yesterday and today there was a dusting of snow.

It was 68 here yesterday. I have an angel winged begonia still out there with many blooms and all of my potted geraniums on the patio are still flowering. Pretty but a little scary for mid- November.

It was 62 yesterday...and this morning woke to 3/4 inch snow, and temps at freezing. Warmed up some today, and is supposed to be back in the 40's by Monday. Weird...this is November...usually by this time there are at least a few inches of snow on the ground, sometimes "heaps". (I'm in central Wisconsin).

Ann, has dear hubby come home with VERY expensive gift yet? If so, how does he like the color of brown you chose?

It was 77 degrees here today. It is 50 already and due to get into the 30s. Tomorrow to be very cold with strong breeze making it feel colder. Monday also is to be cold. Both nights I am due to go out - ugh!

No, Virginia, husband lands tomorrow night. And I haven't asked for anything. He often finds just the right thing, tho, something small but exactly to my liking.

I am sorry about the smoke there. I hadn't seen your post.

There was a gallon jug of distilled water in there. It must have been there a long time. The bottom had gotten punctured and it had leaked into the plastic box. Turned out not to be too bad. I took it in the kitchen and emptied the water, and threw a few things away. Nothing was hurt with the exception of an old electric toothbrush. It was one I had been using before I bought the one I have now. It was still working and I decided I would keep it as a spare. I am going to let it dry out for a few days and then see if it will charge before I throw it away.

When I reached my hand in and felt something wet, I thought "Oh No". Then I realized it was really wet. Carpet was dry and most of what I wanted to keep was in other basket, so I remember needing distilled water for something, but can't remember what.
Virginia, I've had so many gallon jugs of water spring holes when I wasn't looking that I've given up on keeping them around.

I probably should keep a few of them around but I was getting very tired of mopping up.

One thing is that I am always afraid that someone is going to ask me to do something (like go out) and I just do not feel like it, but I always get the feeling that they don't believe me. I know it is me, but I can't help it.
Virginia, you're not the only one with this problem. I have to keep telling myself that (a) I'm the only one who knows what I'm capable of doing, and (b) the people I'm turning down either trust me to be honest about what I say, or they don't. I like to assume they do believe me.

Good answer Agate - I will try to remember and repeat to myself I assume they do believe me.

It's just easier to give people the benefit of the doubt. I've noticed time and time again that I've tended to be suspicious of someone's motives, only to find out how wrong I was. You just can't know what other people are thinking, and so it's best not to assume anything about them. Just my opinion.

Peg, are you a Peg who is really a Margaret? Or maybe you don't want to say.

I used to think everyone named Peg was really a Margaret but then I ran across a couple of Pegs who were Peg or Peggy without being a Margaret.

My name is SpongeBob, but everyone calls me Howie.

I had my meal around noon because...well...I was hungry. And as usual, it made me sleepy, so I decided to take my usual nap. I just woke up an hour ago!!!

So since I'll be up all night anyway, I made a pot of coffee. Cheers!
