I know Howie, when we tried to tell you this is how these things work, you just would not believe us. Hope you kept the other shoe.

I had two nice treats this afternoon. I finally picked up the phone and called a former friend of mine. Actually, she and her husband were very good friends of me and my husband until my husband's death. Her husband died earlier in the year and I sent a donation to their church to the building fund (per paper). I also wrote a long note and sent her a card. Took me a long time to write it because of the way my hands are now. Anyway, I got it back about a month later. They live in the same place but the Post Office had changed the name of their street and it was not forwarded. Anyway, she had been on my mind for months and finally I called the number I have had for her all these years. She seemed so delighted to hear from me. We talked for a long time and I got caught up on some of the people that my husband I use to run around with. She told me that she had recently had an album out with a picture of 4 of us couples. She said we were good looking people back then.

My second surprise was from a lady whose house we meet in for Yoga. She e-mailed me and said she and her husband were having friends over for Christmas dinner on Christmas Day and they wanted to invite me. I had to turn this down for two reasons. The night before is my families Christmas get together and I would not be able to make it after staying up that night. The second reason is that I am going to put on some old clothes and go to one of my brother's houses and let their dog out for a walk and give her snacks and pet her. They are going out of town to see sister-in-law's family for the day, and I felt I could make myself useful without doing too much.

The second lady knows that I have been in mourning since the election and that might be why she invited me. She is also in mourning.

Anyway, two surprises in one day. Nice.

Virginia, that's really nice that you had two nice contacts with people. That always seems to help.

It's kind of a mystery. I had cleaned the garage out, swept it out, nothing on the floor but the bottoms of Pinky's four tires. I walked through I think twice looking for it. And if you saw it where it was, you would wonder how in the world I didn't see it before.

I saw it as soon as the door was pulled up. I didn't even have to take a step inside. Too weird!!!
Howie, why do I keep thinking that Sam is somehow involved in this?

Could she be gaslighting you? Isn't that what it's called, when someone tries to make you think you're crazy, as in the movie "Gaslight"?

Wasn't that a Hitchcock film? Maybe not.

It really is weird. Aliens? Ghosts? Sam?

At least it's back. But I've gotten used to my new sports shoes, and will probably never wear the old shoes again. But at least I have them....both.

No but Ingrid Bergman is in it, and I remember it as a good movie. I first saw it in the 1970s or maybe later but it was made in 1944.

I looked at your link, and I haven't seen it. I must have at least heard the name somewhere.

I am getting the new film Arrival from my brother for my birthday, or Christmas.

:) Hi everyone. Tonight I was at the front door on my scooter and bending over trying to get Lacy's leash attached to her collar and I fell off the scooter. I could not get up. I called Andy and he came right over.

I had scooted over to the sofa to try to get myself up using the sofa arm and could not. Andy put his hands in my armpits from behind and managed to get me high enough to land partly on the sofa. He helped me sit up there and to stand and get back on the scooter. I thanked him and he left.

He had been at a club with his buddy. I hate having to call him to help me when he already does so much for me. He said he did not mind and that he loves me. I'm so lucky to have him. Jeanie :)

What a relief that you weren't badly hurt, Jeanie. These gadgets that help our mobility have dangers. I've had falls and near-falls while bending over from my wheelchair though I know you're just not supposed to bend over.

I'm glad Andy could be there for you too.

The wheelchair technician was here the other day to put the seatbelt back on my chair, and while he was here he wondered where the little rear wheels were. I didn't have them on the other chair and didn't see much need for them on this chair, and I'd taken them off as well.

But I immediately found them for him and he put them on. He said they have to be on because they prevent the chair from tipping backwards.

Virginia, you calling your friend reminded me of that old telephone slogan: "Reach out and touch someone"...

Peg, it's great that you're treating so many people to Thanksgiving dinner, and I'm sure they'll appreciate it. I hope that if anyone offers to bring any of the food, you won't turn those offers down--so you can have a bit more time to enjoy the party.

My nephew usually brings down a few plates from my sister on his way home from the festivities at my sister's on Thanksgiving.

Yesterday, I talked to my brother, and today I called my sister. Everyone is doing great. I just finished my meal, and will try not to nap. Sometimes, the meal wins, and sometimes I win.

Cat, yes reaching out has not been my strong point since I have felt so bad the last few years. But was so glad I did this. I think it was partly because she was so welcoming. One thing is that I am always afraid that someone is going to ask me to do something (like go out) and I just do not feel like it, but I always get the feeling that they don't believe me. I know it is me, but I can't help it. When I got the invitation from the second lady asking me to join them for Christmas Dinner, I just responded about going to take care of my brother's dog. I did not tell her that we have our family Christmas on Christmas Eve and I just can not go two days in a row.

Jeanie, glad you did not get hurt. May I please borrow Andy? What a wonderful son to have and I know your other son would be just the same if he lived closer.

Peg, heed Agate's warning about doing it all. Let others help and you feel like socializing while you have the opportunity.

Well, thought I had a big mess on my hands, but everything worked out alright. I keep two plastic storage boxes in my closet and I keep extra make-up and junk in one. I was going to clean it out and throw some of the stuff away that I knew I would not use again. I picked up some of the stuff I had in the second box to see if I could throw any of it away. There was a gallon jug of distilled water in there. It must have been there a long time. The bottom had gotten punctured and it had leaked into the plastic box. Turned out not to be too bad. I took it in the kitchen and emptied the water, and threw a few things away. Nothing was hurt with the exception of an old electric toothbrush. It was one I had been using before I bought the one I have now. It was still working and I decided I would keep it as a spare. I am going to let it dry out for a few days and then see if it will charge before I throw it away.

When I reached my hand in and felt something wet, I thought "Oh No". Then I realized it was really wet. Carpet was dry and most of what I wanted to keep was in other basket, so I remember needing distilled water for something, but can't remember what.

You use distilled water in car batteries, but most now days are sealed and no way to add anything.
