OT November Chit Chat

:) Hi all. Last night my stitches came loose but they were on the upper part of my mouth and I could not see them with a mirror but they kept bothering me. Finally I got a strong light and a small mirror and was able to cut the longest strand. I still feel two smaller ones. I just hope what they stitched is staying together.

I don't feel a lot of pain so I can back off on the pain pills. It is hard to realize it is Sunday. I did set my watch back an hour. I am going to bed early since my body is on yesterdays time. Jeanie :)

Hi Everyone, I've been busy picking up Rxs, going to do grocery shopping, meeting two brothers and one sister-in-law for dinner this evening.

Vicky, I hope you enjoy your new computer. Just a word of advice - don't let Howie tell you how to work on it.

Agate, I've never had a jar opener that worked for me. I had one that came through the mail from one of the MS drug companies, and then one that looks something like the picture you are showing, but I can' t get them to help me open a jar for the life of me.

Ann, sounds like a good dinner to me. I had crab cakes, slaw, red skin potatoes and then when I got home I had a piece of homemade pumpkin cake that my sister-in-law made me. It was all good. There were two crab cakes, so I saved enough of everything to have the same thing tomorrow night.

My sister-in-law bought me 3 individual containers of frozen meat loaf that she had made, and two more individual containers of frozen vegetable soup she had made. I need to stop at the store and get some potatoes so I can fix them to go with my meat loaf. She had already brought me 4 containers of vegetable soup and two of southwestern chicken soup. I love soup in the winter and she likes to make it. She makes a big pot and then brings me enough for a few meals. It really comes in handy, plus it is good. She made spaghetti and bought me a couple of containers of that - frozen and I didn't think it turned out as well as the soup. Just didn't seem to freeze as well. I am lucky when she brings me food. Sometime I am just too tired to try and fix much and this is so much better than what I get at the store.

Oh! by the way, getting back to the rat and cat stories. When I was living in Alexandria, Va and working at the Pentagon way, way back, the story I heard that someone left a ham out on a counter (by mistake) in the kitchen and the rats pulled it across the counter while eating it. Most of it was eaten away next morning. So Howie I think those rats would be too big for even Sam to handle.

Those stitches can itch if they're still using the same stuff I've had. Good for you, Jeanie--doing some of your own dental work, taking your cue from Howie, I guess.

Everyone was posting at the same time. Hi Peg glad your weather is pretty, ours is too. Has cooled off a little the past couple of days, but still in upper 60s to about 70, where I like it.

Jeanie, maybe you should think about calling the Dentist office tomorrow and see if they need to take a look at where any stitches have come out. I know you don't want anything to go wrong now.

I don't believe we heard from our Sally today. Hope her DD went to visit.

Just saw Agate's post and she has a little different take on Jeanie's stitches. If it is alright then that is a good thing.

Virginia, Sam would do fine with a big rat. She has been working out, and has a punching bag that looks just like a big rat, and I'm telling you, she really knows all the moves, and those paws are fast as lightening! She's changing her name to Mohammad Sam!

Sam working out? EEK. Does she have a black belt in karate too?

Most rats I've seen have been bigger than almost all domestic cats I've seen though there was one monster I saw coming in to the vet's once that was the size of a bobcat who might have been able to deal with a rat.

Peg, glad to know you've been riding around on the nice days. Does the dog named Sam come along?


Virginia and Jeanie, I don't know that cutting your own dental stitches is a good idea. I agree that a call to the dentist would be advisable!

Virginia, about the jar opening problem--I had one of those openers from either the Avonex people or the Copaxone people, and for a while I was very happy with it. But then it gave out. Part of it detached from the other part and it just didn't work any more.

My method of jar opening is to bang the jar against a counter top several times, going around the lid and giving each side of the lid a sharp whack--but never hard enough to break the glass of course, or to dent the cap. If that doesn't work, I go to the jar openers. A nutcracker works on smaller caps, and sometimes just gripping it with a towel helps.

There are jars that I give up on and go back to them at a later time.

Agate, that's what I do with jars also, plus I run hot water over the lid. I have had to give up a couple of times.

Good morning all. I've been up since 5:30....I think. I have 3 clocks, and they are all set differently. I wasn't sure if I sure if it was Spring forward and Fall back, or Fall forward, and Spring back, so at least one is correct.

I just called my meds in, and in a while, I'll do the dump, bank, and store thing.
I don't need much, but mainly want to get out. It's only 40 degrees now, but supposed to be in the 60's later. We'll see.

After a terrible time with my computer yesterday, it's running smooth as silk now. I threw out a BUNCH of apps. I don't even now why I saved them. To look impressive to the cats, by having so many apps? Silly if you don't even use them!

Jars: sometimes whacking all around the lid with the handle of a dinner knife (not a kitchen knife with a sharp blade!) Will loosen it enough, too.
