A person can get fairly drunk on wassail but there are nonalcoholic versions too.

I actually prefer the unspiked version -- hot apple cider, with orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, other spices, simmered for awhile. Really nice on a cold night.

Just checked out agates link, the "traditional" wassail. Aint my grandmas wassail! No eggs there! Brandy, for sure...and apple cider, orange juice... but eggs???

I can't imagine eggs in it either. In eggnog, yes.

I picked that recipe from several because it was the only one that didn't involve a slow cooker, which not everybody has.

I've never made wassail but have had it. It was tasty.

Agate, as far as people getting zanier as the season begins - I think it is mostly Vicky and Howie, at least I thought it was, but Cat seems to be joining in also.

Jeanie, glad you had a good Thanksgiving.

By the way, Rose thanks for the recipe on getting rid of ants. I don't keep boric acid, but guess I can get some when I need it.
