    Unhappy about cool weather?

It's still cool here--with a need for heat at night--and it's absolutely glorious.

Midwestern memories: June in Chicago can be as hot as August. In fact, a Chicago summer can extend from mid-May to late September if you're looking at days hot enough to get a sunburn or to turn on the air conditioner or fans.

New England memories: Summers seemed not much different from Chicago. Same sultry, oppressive summer days when the humidity makes the heat ever so much less tolerable.

Ceiling fans are pretty effective except that on very hot days they're just blowing the hot air around.

      ((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~

We are enjoying cool, overcast mornings, and sunny 70-80s temperatures during the day, with glorious cool, soft sea breezes. It is Paradise.

This is weather for reveling, because by mid-late summer, it will be boiling. We dread it.

Jim, Jon, and I are all adversely affected by excessive heat, for different reasons, and the a/c can cause our home to be stuffy and congesting. We invested in Dyson fans, which are expensive, but in the long run, they are cheaper than running the a/c, and support cooling our home, with the a/c running, so it doesn't have to run as long. They are incredibly effective, ergonomic, and require less electricity than the a/c.

Compressors and cars are expensive items to maintain and replace. Thinking of those of you, who are in these situations, for the least expensive and best resolution. We also know what it's like to be without electricity for extended periods. Prayers for all that no one experiences outages this summer.

Climate change is real. Nearly 200 countries agree, whereas 3 don't. We can have all of the scientific evidence to prove that climate change is real, but we also have our life experience. As I reflect on my Earthly years, I'm positive that our climate is changing by our own hands. And by our own hands, we must heal our planet to save it.

Wishing good weather for all ~

      Love & Light,

Rose, I hadn't heard of a Dyson fan and looked it up. It looks really amazing. A fan that cool a room well and doesn't make a lot of noise, with no blades--that's astonishing. Has remote control too.

For years I had a fan that would run on batteries--in case of a power outage. It was a fairly ordinary box fan but it did run on batteries.

One advantage living here in the hot and humid south, is having a car with AC. If there's a power outage from the many storms, I can always get in the car until the power comes back on.

The Cruiser has seats that recline almost flat, it has AC, and a killer stereo with both a CD and cassette player. Come inside if I need a drink, or snacks.

I have been asleep all day. I don't know why, and forced myself to get up even now. I don't know why I'm so sleepy, but why fight it. I have long, vivid dreams these days, and never bad dreams.

I do need to do better with eating. It's been several days since I made a meal, but I keep a big jar of PB back here, and will eat a spoonful now and then. As a kid, I LIVED on PBJ sandwiches. Fast and easy to make, then back outdoors to play.

You sleepyheads have good dreams tonight.

93 degrees here today, but I didn't have to turn on the AC. Good insulation in this house. TG we don't get your humidity, that makes it much worse!
As I write this it has dropped down to 65 degrees. Good sleeping temp.
            Good night all!

I've only heard of a Dyson sphere, not a Dyson fan! Don't look up the sphere, it will just scare you.

Here I am, up this early, with nothing to do. It's supposed to be rain free all week, AND my car will be ready this week. Just a coincidence, or did I plan it that way. Hmmmmm.....

I will be out of coffee as soon as this mug is finished. That's when I miss my car, when I can't do the little things like run to the store, or even check the mail. But everything as far as bills in on auto-pay, or can be done online except one, and I mailed that one when my sister came down.

Everyone have a great day, and for goodness sake, behave yourselves. Santa has already started taking notes and making lists!

Actually cooled off enough last night -- we had open windows -that we needed to pull a blanket on the bed! Haven't heard from the air conditioner guy yet...but it's only about 70 degrees outside and in, so tolerable. I dug up all our paperwork on our central air unit -- it's only 8 years old, and still under warranty, so we might get by with not having to pay anything.

It's 12:45 PM here in my corner of Boston. A whooping 49 degrees and still raining. Yes, better than heat or drought. Still, some warm sun and temps in the low 70's would be appreciated.

If it could just stay at 60-75' (above!) all the time, that would be nice.

:) Jim came unexpectedly today and put a new ceramic light fixture in the ceiling of my laundry room. I ordered sandwiches and we ate lunch. It has been raining hard all night and morning but we need it bad.

Andy came by and put out the trash and recycle. Even with the rain it is in the low 80's.

Poor Lacy has been shaking and hiding from the rain and thunder. She keeps her mouth open and pants too. I just hope she does not have a heart attack. Jeanie :)

Poor lacy! Send the storm up here in Florida! We keep getting missed the past two days. This is all weather pushed in from Beatriz remnants in lower Gulf.

Peg, hope all the animals will be alright. Glad Sam's was not anything serious. Seems there is always excitement going on there. Poor little calf. I hope you guys can save him.

Agate, what city or state were you living in when you went 28 years without A/C? I didn't have it growing up here or in France or Germany, but I was young and busy working and having a good time. I didn't notice it so much. It was just the way life was, but I could not survive now for absolute sure.

Cat, hope you get your air conditioning fixed quick and free.

Rose, I am going to look up Dyson fans and see what they are like. Now I am curious.

Ann, do not fuss about cool weather - later you will be wishing you had it back!

It rained here a lot yesterday and some the day before. It is supposed to be in the 70s a couple of days later this week. I will welcome that.

I overdid on Sunday and was just totally out of it yesterday. I didn't even turn the computer on.

Howie, which day do you get your car back? If you are out of coffee, it better be soon. You will start to suffer withdrawal.

Virginia, that was in Tacoma, WA, in the Puget Sound area which just happens to have "one of the most equitable climates in the world," as was stated on some map of the area. You really can live without air conditioning there, and it may be almost the only area of the US where it's possible.

However, there were some very hot days in those 28 years, even one when it was 99'. I wouldn't have tried to live there without making sure my apartment faced north and had adequate windows.

I had huge box fans and developed a system that cooled the place most of the time very adequately.

Except on those occasional very hot days when I was a limp dishrag.

We have a large one down and upstairs, which cool a fairly large area. Small ones in Jon's and our bedrooms. We've had them for years, and they still work well. They oscillate or remain stationary. They have several low to high settings. Super quiet. The air is a cool breeze, not a blast. No blades to clean.

These fans have reduced our a/c use significantly, so even though they are expensive, in the long run, they save us money and pull less energy from the grid.
