Yesterday I was talking to a dude at the beach. It was sunny and 90. After ten minutes I told him I have MS and if I didn't get wet right away my legs would not work. So we walked into the water together.
He told me I was an inspiration. On the one hand I was flattered. On the other hand, I felt like a fraud. The real inspirations are people who have bad disease but get up every morning, get the kids off to school, go work two jobs in order to feed the kids, come home and help the kids, get to bed, wake up and do the same thing the next day.
But I said thank you. He then insisted on carrying my 9' longboard to the car. Again, I felt lucky to know the gent, but it also made me feel like an invalid, which I know is irrational, but there you have it!
