Howie, I just ate and it was soooo good. I e-mailed her and thanked her again.

Virginia,
Did you know Monuments Men was also a movie with some pretty big star power in it?

Agate,
I was writing my post as you were posting yours, so, hadn't read whatever you originally wrote before posting mine.
Vicky, that is freaking hilarious!
Good morning, ANN! Sounds like you had a lovely visit with your mum!
Jeanie, so sorry, you're having so many aggravations with your van, what a headache!! But glad you and BBS made it through Matthew unscathed!
BBS, I'm going to ask my doc for a low dose of baclofen myself to see if it helps my lower leg pain. Always been scared of the leg weakness side effect, but maybe low dose will help. Will let you know! Glad it's helping you!

Jeanie, I hope that every place you go to you find friendly welcoming people, after all of the trouble you've gone to to get there. People tend not to realize just how hard it is for a disabled person to go anywhere.
I'm always hearing this when an additional piece of paper or a sample or whatever is needed some place: "Just drop it off here any time."
"Just"??? I want to say, "You make it sound so simple but it isn't."
--I'm so glad ANN is such a gracious hostess, serving up chocolate and coffee at the break of day.
It makes these vitamin D pills easier to take. I must have misordered the latest supply of vitamin D because instead of pills to swallow I have "chewable" vitamin D.
They're little shiny round beads, and I usually just swallow them but the other day I tried chewing one, after I finally realized that the bottle label said "chewable."
Chewing them is next to impossible. You sink your teeth into one, it squirts liquid out, probably the vitamin D, but you're stuck having to chew the casing.
It doesn't want to be chewed. It's like chewing gum, or the tree sap we used to chew when I was a kid.
I think I'll go on swallowing these vitamin D pills.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

:) Thanks for all the support. I think God fixed my van. Now everything is working except the kneel down part and I could live without it. I stopped in the mobility place and they still want me to bring it Friday and leave it so they can work on that. Andy will follow me and bring me home.
I made an appointment for Lacy tomorrow as she is still scratching herself almost raw. I am out of the pills they gave me and they won't give me more unless I bring her in. They want the $$$.
I got a letter yesterday from the insurance company who insures my house and they insist on an inspection. I have had 3 in the last 5 years. Why is everything a hassle? My house passes always but it is just a pain. They bring in a ladder and look in the attic and examine the roof outside, also the electric.
My high school class is having another reunion in Jacksonville but I am not up to making that trip. If I were going to make the trip I would do it to see my friend Bill in assisted living. I call him every afternoon and he really has no memory so I just mainly talk and don't ask any questions because he does not have any answers.
I find my memory is not as sharp as it was and when I can't think of something it scares me. I am eating chocolate Ann so I hope that gives me an energy boost. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, will it mean more money for the mobility place, or have you paid all that you are likely to have to pay? I hope you have.
Ann, coffee and chocolate at the same time. Talk about a caffeine fix. Howie will love it. I'll take just the chocolate please. Thanks for having us all over again.
Suze-Q and Agate, yes I did know that Monuments Men had been made into a movie. As a matter of fact we are going to have only a short review Thursday night and then watch the movie. The reason for this is because very few finished the book. I think I might have mentioned that it was very hard to read. I hope the movie will be good. I actually learned a lot from the book.
All these things I am reading that took place in France, Germany, Austria and across Europe, I am just totally fascinated by. I just wish that I had known all of this when I was over there. I would have gone to many places that I am just learning about. I actually was in the towns, but did not realize the historical part. So much has been printed since I was there, so that plays into it.
Are Howie and the Cats going to sleep all day?Virginia

:) Virginia I have no idea why. I have never filed a claim and I have lived here since 1964. Last year since the house is paid for I changed the insurance from $3000 a year to $789 a year by eliminating wind and flood damages.
My house has never flooded as it has a swale by the street and even when the street was covered in water and it was halfway up the yard we did not get any inside. My kids were rowing the canoe in it. Also we have shutters for all the windows. The house is concrete block and the roof is concrete tiles.
I am going to call them and see why. I don't think there will be any more charges for the van, they just want the new part to work it all. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, I looked up swale because I wasn't sure what it was. It sounds as if you almost have a moat protecting your "castle"--how nice that the kids could row a canoe in it!
Good luck with the inspecting! My apartment gets inspected quite often but it's a HUD building. I have an impression homeowners are having to have far more inspections in recent years. They inspect for asbestos, lead, radon, and apparently mold, and there are probably other things they're looking for as well.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. The inspection thing is a mystery, too! We got inspected once, when we first took out the policy, but haven't had any sort of inspection since, even after I filed a claim (we got hit by lightning, a few years ago).
We're having bathroom problems now...the floor of the only handicap accessible bathroom in the house is leaking....tiles on the floor started to bulge, is how we noticed it. Right now the floor is all torn up. I can't shower (can still use the sink and toilet). We had one person come in today to look at it and give us an estimate on repairs. We need to get a new shower pan --a shower floor, and maybe two walls. I cant use the three that are in a normal shower surround, as the third wall would make the rest of the bathrooml inaccessible to me. The space is really small, and not much floor space. I think we might have to get someone in who can customize the space somehow. Bummer. I can see the dollar signs already.....
And the really bad news. Another pressure sore has formed. Not quite in the same place as the old, but on the scar tissue there from the surgery to repair the old one. Back to being in bed much of the day, and back to weekly visits to the wound clinic. I am not a happy person right now....I am not a doctor nor medical professional, and don't pretend to be one, here... :o

:) Cat I hope this sore heals fast. My bathroom was made accessible by Palm Beach County housing. If they can do it for under %15000. it is free. If it goes over that they put a lien on. They were able to do mine for under that.
You might call your county and see if they have a similar program. Take care. You are special. Jeanie :)

This doesn't sound especially convincing but maybe the prior experience with the earlier pressure sore situation will make it easier to deal with this new development, somehow?
