True to my word, I skipped swimming for two days. Yesterday's motion was scraping off all the wax on my board and reapplying fresh wax. Plus the usual stairs.

And let your body tell you when it's time to stop. Don't set a goal of a third, or a quarter mile, but just swim, and stop when your body tells you to. THEN see how far you swam. That's the skill you need to fine tune, to always feel good!"Given the millions of billions of Earth-like planets, life elsewhere in the Universe without a doubt, does exist."

Wish that worked. I always feel fine swimming. The effects are not felt until afterwards. Now surfing is different. I seem to be able to detect subtle changes, such as numbness in the face, a twitch in the foot and have learned to get out immediately and NOT get back in, no matter how great the waves are.Originally posted by Howie View PostAnd let your body tell you when it's time to stop. Yes, it's the subtle changes you have to be on the lookout for--and maybe in everything you do every waking moment.
I find it's hard to stay alert to the subtle changes if I'm distracted by having too much on your mind. Or if I'm in a distracting situation like a group of people you're interacting with. Or just wrapped up in a movie or book for too long though that is one of the safest things I can do, and I think it's because I'm just sitting, not moving any muscles particularly.SPMS diagnosed 1980. The waves were clean knee to thigh high with brisk offshore wind. We knew we would be fighting an incoming thunderstorm and hoped it would slow down its arrival. Hoping paid off. We got two hours of surfing bliss in before the tide drained out and these waves came down to ankle to knee high.
We were celebrating a birthday of one of the crew, so 9 of us showed up to surf and toast. There were only about ten dudes in the water.
It was one of those days where the weather kept changing creating these beautiful light patterns, some sudden short rain, and a few rainbows in the northern sky. God it was so wonderful to be out there. And the rides were easy going and fun too.
After that toasting the whole crew paddled out simultaneously. We must've been a sight to behold by the dudes on the water, watching 9 senior women paddle out.
Now for resting in hopes of staving off MS spasms.

BBS, just reading your descriptions is almost like being there.
I wonder if there's a cool-down routine you go through after surfing? Would it help to cut down on the spasms?Last edited by agate; 01-07-2017, 10:46 AM.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

The only help is to drive 45 minutes home, clean up gear for half hour and shower. Then lie down until next morning.Originally posted by agate View PostBBS. just reading your descriptions is almost like being there.

Just drive here, I have about 6 inches of fresh snow on the ground that fell last night. That will cool you down in a hurry. No wonder the store was crowded yesterday. Everyone knew but me!
