Yeah...that was the forecast for our end of the state...and I woke up to 7” and it is not gone yet...still sleeting here at 7am.Originally posted by stillstANNding View PostOur first snow is here and it’s beautiful! It’s going to rain after midnight so it will be gone in the morning.

I did not cover my vehicles with tarps which I usually do so there is now hours of work to get the snow off everything, including the plow truck! I have to admit I feel isolated and overwhelmed on this Farm. The day ahead will test my mettle.

Linda, we got 3 inches. It was beautiful. It’s been raining since before 5 AM, at least, and is now slush. Peter cleared the steps and our walkways as I have an appointment today.
I am sorry that you have all of this work to do on low physical energy. I surmise the farm is not working for the two of you. Maybe it’s time for a descusdion about that. Past time?

Thanks. Not a discussion we will ever have. John is a model of the crusty New England farmer.Linda~~~~

Hmmm, haven't tried Ambien yet, will talk to my doctor about that one.
Virginia, you are most likely dependent on the valium after so long: if you stopped it, you'd likely experience withdrawal symptoms. Valium isn't as fast acting as ativan, but it's still a benzodiazepine. Glad you haven't built up a tolerance to it though.
'Tea infusion' is just a new flavor of Neocitran, it tastes way better than that yucky lemony flavor. I'm going to try half a packet tonight, see if that's just as effective. Thanks for that idea!
How annoying that the postal carrier jammed your book in like that! They should dislodge it and bring it to your door!
Hope it wasn't too much of a problem clearing your snow, Linda! Those 'crusty New England farmers' may be obstinate, but they sure are salt of the earth folk! Wishing you a good day today on your farm!
Jeanie, glad they were able to repair your scooter! How fun that you've made a new game friend! Good to hear you're doing regular exercises too. Smart idea from ANN to maybe keep the Hoveround for your own needs.
Howie, glad you've got your sister on the gabapentin mystery!Last edited by SuzE-Q; 11-16-2018, 06:23 AM.

Howie, I think if your Sister just called the Doctor's office and got them to call CVS that would straighten things out. However, since she is taking care of it she would know all the circumstances and know what to do. Sisters are like that (especially when they are the only one).
Jeanie, if you have a place to put the Hoveround, Ann has a good idea about possibly needing it later.
Linda, I hate to think of all you have to do. I wish you did not have to work that hard. You shouldn't have to clear snow away, but that is just my opinion. As you know my brothers think I sometimes have too many opinions. But it is usually because I care too much.
I e-mailed the U.S. Postal service this morning about my book. It is so upsetting. All I could find to do was e-mail them at some central location which is not even in NC, however I put in my zip code and stated my problem. I knew I should have ordered that book on Kindle.
Where is Agate?
Ann, glad Peter is there to take care of any snow problems you might have before you go out for your appointment.
Edited to add: I am still thinking about Nuthatch and Rose in California. I didn't get to see much of the news last night. I got in too late. However, from what I saw I think things are beginning to look a little better, but that is not saying much. Just think of all the missing people and what might have happened to them.Last edited by Virginia; 11-16-2018, 07:47 AM.Virginia

I've had that mail situation, Virginia--something stuffed into the box to the point where I couldn't get it out. I was so intent on getting it out that I gathered up a few tools and went to the mailbox and really worked on it. I believe a large screwdriver is what worked to pry it out. Of course you risk damaging the item slightly but I was willing to take that chance. You seem to have a different type of mailbox, and that may not work for you.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. :) My ex went back home. He had gotten to Baltimore and they were not letting any plane out, so he took a bus back to Maine. The lady he lives with, Sarah broke her wrist and will have surgery on Tuesday. God probably stopped his plane so he could be home to help her. He is planning a January visit now.
I do not like the Hoveround and it is too big to go in my doors inside. The batteries I bought in January went dead as I did not charge it often enough. They replaced them free since they had a one year warranty. I want to get rid of it while it is working and the batteries are good so someone can use it.
I just found out David's sister in California left her husband of 40 years, sold the house and had the moving company take her half the house and her car to Connecticut. She has rented an apartment and she brought her dog with her. Her husband's alcoholism had gotten so bad he was abusive and he would not do anything about it. So sad. She is the sister I really liked a lot.
I had my septic tank pumped yesterday and they parked on my grass and left two big ruts. I have it done every four years. I am doing very little other than resting and playing computer games. I'm okay with that for now as I feel okay. Jeanie :)

I didn't like the Hoveround either, Jeanie, when I tried one out briefly. It was awkward and next to impossible with my doorway. It seemed so big that it was like parking a car in my apartment.Originally posted by Jeanie Z View Post...

I got a return e-mail from postal service and they said they would send postal inspectors around to look at it. I e-mailed again stating that I did not need inspectors that my box had not been tampered, that the carrier had put a package in that was too big and I was unable to get it out.
I kept looking until I found a local number for that Post Office and called it. I got a lady who I think would have helped me, but just as we were discussing it someone came in and said something to her. She told them that the Post Master had told her to take a lady to front who was mailing 20 packages, which she did and then she said to them "I came back here and the phone was ringing so I picked it up. I have a customer on the line." After that she was not quite as helpful and I am not sure she ever understood my address. This is frustrating.Virginia

Can you pry it out with main force? I imagine you've tried everything but somehow someone got it in there. This may be faulty logic but if someone got it in there, there's probably a way to get it out.
You might mutilate it considerably but at least you'll have it and won't have to make more calls. On a weekend the post office probably doesn't have its most capable people working.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.
