Cherie are you saying something like "more is less"? Sometimes thinning out is good, when there is a little too much. I get so use to looking at my own stuff that sometimes I have to sit back and say does something need to go? Not sure that is what you meant.

I will be back on, but I will say Happy Thanksgiving in case you are not.

Yes. Lots of books gone. A few knick knacks passed on to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Some wall hangings not rehung and will likely either go home with kids or grandkids later this week or be given away.

I just made a yummy soup using left over beef shavings that I had frozen for just this purpose, veggies and gluten free pasta.

Hi everyone! I have a question for you.

I turn 65 next month. I've been on SS for about 20 years. Does anything change when I hit 65?

        Thanks!

In my experience, the checks just keep coming seamlessly.

That was how it worked for me, Howie. There was no announcement about any changeover.

Thank you Agate and Ann. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do anything, but just let everything change on it's own, and I didn't have to go anywhere, and especially, nothing would change. (money)

No, you won't get penalized with an income reduction just because you've reached a certain age.

As I think someone already posted previously, the cost-of-living adjustment will mean an increase of 2.8% for everyone receiving Social Security as of 2019:

Are you currently on Medicare? Do you have supplemental insurance for Parts B and Part D? If not, you may have to sort that out, and it's a good idea to start now, before your birthday.

I've been following your posts, just unable to reply recently. Lots of things happening with Jonathan this month. Today it was all about finding a new pump for his alternating pressure low air loss mattress.

                    You're all in my prayers!

Well, let's see Ann, she got dressed including washing hair and fixing it, went to UPS, then to Pharmacy and then to Whole Foods. Tonight she went to meditation.

I went to Whole Foods today with the intention of bringing home a salad for supper, but their salads did not look good today. So, I wondered over to the hot bar and saw they had a Holiday area. I ended up getting some of several items and was prepared for it to be not seasoned right or not cooked good, but it was really good all of it. I had a slice of turkey, dressing, mashed sweet potatoes, corn pudding and cranberry sauce. It was so good. I was pleasantly surprised.

I came home from meditation tonight and ordered a Christmas gift from ViewYourDeal.com for my Christmas gift for our family Christmas. It has to be for both men and women of many ages. So I saw that they had Opera's favorite things. I got a bag that you carry for travel that folds up. It is normally $60.00 and I got it for $30.00. We are suppose to spend $25.00. I don't know how anyone gets anything for $25.00, but anyway I just grabbed this while it was there. I think it will be good through tomorrow, if anyone wants to go on and see what they have. There may be something you want to get as a Christmas gift or something for yourself.

Now, I am going to read in my book, which I have wanted to do all day. Then I will go to bed.

                            Howie,
It changes when you hit 66 not 65. You then transition from SSDI to Social Security Retirement. The payment stays the same but the restrictions on earnings relax and you may pay more tax on what you earn without jeopardizing your retirement income. I know cause I am there now.

                            Rose ,
Glad to see you back on the forum. We were getting quite concerned about you and the fires. Please let us know you are out of harms way or safe in other ways.

Cherie, I'm poor. I haven't paid taxes since I started this MS journey, or shortly afterwards. I think I can easily transition. I hope so anyway!

The biopsies from the upper endoscopy came back normal. Very happy for that. Still can’t gain back my 15 pounds or eat normally but very grateful for impressive list of “normal.”

Peter is out shopping for our Thanksgiving dinner. We are hosting his mother. Ironic that it’s the eating holiday. I’ll concentrate on the thankful part.
