:) I did go to the store and got Lacy food. I just got TG cards and dog food as I was tired.

Came home and went to hear Andy's band. Stopped at Cracker Barrel to eat on the way there. When I got to their band place, I had diarrhea. I stayed for the first set and then left and came home. Luckily I had pads for protection and they worked.

I am so tired I am going to go to bed early. I hope all of you have a nice Thanksgiving. Jeanie :)

Cat, so glad you are better today and were well enough to go with TC yesterday. After being so sick I know it felt good to just feel half decent again.

Jeanie, sorry you have had problems today. I would say you caught something from Cat, but I am pretty sure you can't do that over the internet! Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Going to be a long and nervous night tonight. Daughter called to let me know they are now in the "red flag fire zone". The fire rages on with 148,000 acres burned and 55% containment, but they expect the wind to pick up around 10 tonight. Tinder dry up there and they're surrounded by forest. Logging is a very large industry in Plumas County so there is plenty to burn!

The TIC visited what's left of Paradise today. He stated he still doesn't believe in climate change . . . idiot! You could see that Governor Brown has no respect for him, just by observing the body language!

CNN had a piece today about the woman who had to be evacuated after just having a C-section. She was still numb from the waist down from having a spinal and then the ambulance she was being transported in caught fire! What a scary story!
My daughter was originally going to give birth to Tula in the hospital in Paradise because it specializes in high risk births. Sounds like they have some very dedicated people there!

          ANN,
So grateful to hear you have turned a corner and are improving. I would give a lot to be back at that weight again but age and medications are seeming to interfere.

          Jeanie,
It has quieted weather-wise up here. Hopefully he can get out yet before Thanksgiving. Although my daughter went to our Condo in NH this weekend with a friend and their kids and they have about 15" of snow there and it is snowing again so I don't know what it is like.

Did A pork roast with baked potatoes and mixed veggies tonight (broccoli, carrot, red and yellow peppers) for dinner tonight. The house smells amazing. Dave and I finished hanging the pics in the dining room after the re-do from the water damage after dinner. Feels much more settled and complete.

Hoping and praying all of you under the weather pop back above it quickly.

Nuthatch - is your daughter evacuating? I’m not sure what “red zone” means. Not good.
            I’ll worry with you.

Cherie, glad your house is fixed.

Jeanie, get better. Rest is good.

Cat, glad you recovered enough to get out.

            Virginia, ironing? Starching?

Worried about Rose. She would usually have posted by now. I hope they are OK.

Nuthatch, I feel for you and what you and your DH are going through. I also feel for your daughter and her family. I wonder if they should just leave and go to your house for awhile. Is that reasonable? I don't know any circumstances so I don't know.

Cherie, sounds like a good dinner tonight. Made me hungry all over again.

Yes, Ann I really do still try to starch my blouses and iron them. I know most people don't, but I love starched blouses. Winter gives me a rest from it, since I wear pull over sweaters instead of blouses.

It is already in the 30s here tonight and I am on my way to bed now. Will take me another 20 minutes to get ready.

                  Ollie, ollie in free!

                  Where are you all?

And I really need to know that Rose and Howie are OK.

We had a quiet day at home. Peter helped me do three loads of laundry. Not big loads, just three because we separated colors. He also did the cat litters and the trash and recycling.

The Durrells in Corfu on PBS is our next endeavor. ;-)

The wind did not kick up last night, so daughter and family are fine. They have some bags packed and set by the door just in case. The fire fighters continue to work and the weather is cooperating . . . not raining, but at least the winds have stopped.
Virginia, we have told them they could always come here, but they both have jobs and he doesn't have any vacation time right now. His job requires him to be "on call" day or night, on a very regular basis. Besides, the road out is still closed. They would have to go east toward Reno, then circle around, making the 8 hour drive much longer.

Glad to read that many members of our forum family are feeling better. Hope the improvements continue for all.

Ann, I'm doing fine....so far. I took the Gabapentin around 8, and I should have enough to do one each day for the rest of the month, and 2 if I feel bad. I can't wait for next month to get here.

It's been really quiet here all day. But I understand the "significant other", for most, is home today. The forum has been very quiet since this morning. Everyone have a good evening!

Ever since you talked about puzzles, Virginia, I've been hooked on doing jigsaw puzzles on line! My latest obsessions - puzzles and tapioca pudding!
I can even listen to episodes of This American Life while doing a puzzle!
Now, walk and chew bubblegum? No.

I've been busier than usual placing a grocery order through Instacart. During Thanksgiving week the usual grocery delivery service I use isn't operating, and so I'm ordering online. One of my neighbors is piggybacking her order onto mine. We've used the Safeway in the past but this year I wanted to use Instacart because they will shop at Fred Meyer, the chain supermarket where the groceries come from when we use the volunteer grocery delivery service--not the same Fred Meyer but a Fred Meyer with the same items.

Instacart uses a shopper who also does the delivery. Safeway pulls up in a jumbo-sized van that looks like a moving van and there's never any contact with the actual shopper.

Safeway just deposits the groceries without waiting for the customer to check the order over. Instacart is more flexible, apparently. I've use it only once before.

So today the neighbor was here going over her order while I entered it. I'll pay for both orders, and she'll reimburse me for her share. I do have to sort out the two orders and take hers to her via shopping cart and the elevator on Tuesday but that should take care of us for this holiday week.

Nuthatch, glad your family is safe, at least for now. I hope they do not have to leave, but sounds like they are as ready as they can be all things considered.
Now tell me, can you do jigsaw puzzles, eat tapioca pudding and listen to This American Life all at the same time? That's three things if you can and that is really amazing!

Ann, glad you have had a day of just pretty much rest. I think you were kind of ready for that.

Agate, does Instacart shop at more than one store at the time? I only ordered a few things that one time and I didn't think to try and find out. You are doing your good deed when you help the elderly lady with her groceries. I am sure she very much appreciates that help.

Howie, I thought you were on two a day. Only one?? That is really cutting it close. I'll be glad when this month is over and you get this straightened out. I hope you kind of watch yourself and know if you are having too many bad effects from this.

I went to hardware store today and got something for ants. I have them in my master bathroom and so far that is the only place. I noticed after the maid left that I felt that floor being a little sticky when I walked on it this week and then the ants. Since I have her only use a steam mop, it would have just been steam that she used on it. However, she might have gotten something on it when she cleaned the bottom of my shower. I am going to ask her to use an old towel on the floor in front of the shower from now on. I still wasn't satisfied so after I went out to dinner I came home and vacuumed that floor and steam mopped it myself.

I went to eat with two SILs and two brothers tonight. One brother is bringing me Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday afternoon. That will be a nice treat.

Apparently it is possible to use Instacart for more than one store at a time:

During online checkout, you will be prompted to select a delivery window for each store. A separate shopper or set of shoppers will be connected to each store delivery.
Keep in mind that delivery fees and minimums are applicable on a per-delivery basis, and each store requires a separate delivery.
                              (from the Instacart Website)

I have my online grocery order in through Peapod to be picked up at the stor a mile from us Tuesday morning. Happy Thanksgiving in advance to all that are here. David and I finished hanging all of the pictures and hardware in the refurbished dining room and rearranging the books on the shelves and "trinkets" on the shelves. Most of the stuff is now out of the living room and back where it belongs and this episode has allowed us to "thin out " some of our possessions that we took for granted.
