I have been fixing bacon in the oven rather than the frying pan. I don't mind raw spinach but cooked is another story. It isn't the taste its the texture that I cant get past. I like Lima beans and grits. Although I would prefer cream of wheat and I hate to admit this but I LIKE lumps in it. A couple teaspoons of sugar and milk (whole not that wash water stuff) and I am good to go. Same applies to oatmeal.
I don't care for black beans they taste like a mouthful of dirt. Every farmer grows green beans around here so I can pick as much as we need. This year we plan to put up Dilly Beans. And we ran out of pickles, dill of course. Sweet and pickles do not belong in the same sentence.

I can't stand cooked spinach either, Gary. Fresh, in a salad, love it. Same with broccoli, hate it cooked, love it uncooked in a salad.
Cat, hate turnips too. And brussel sprouts.
Haven't eaten beef in 25 years.
Black beans are good, rinsed to removed anything gritty, then cook on low heat in shallow water for 10 minutes with some cumin. Drain. Cool. Add chopped tomatoes, corn, cilantro, red onion and dress with balsamic/olive oil with a little cumin. One of my favorite salads.
While I don't have a microwave anymore, it was also good for heating water for a cup of tea.
Howie, edamame is so easy to make and is very tasty, you'd like it, I think. Very inexpensive. I agree, kiwis are quite a treat too!Last edited by SuzE-Q; 04-05-2016, 06:12 PM.

I tried edamame but didn't like it. I love okra though. Also Brussels sprouts, spinach in any form except creamed. I don't like stewed tomatoes or any creamed vegetable I can think of but do like most vegetables.
Except French fries but they're not my idea of any way to treat a potato.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Would you like fries with that okra?
SuzE-Q, melting cheese over broccoli is the way I like it, but just steamed is good too.
I think today will be mango day. I gave them a squeeze, and they give a little on the surface."Given the millions of billions of Earth-like planets, life elsewhere in the Universe without a doubt, does exist."

If Okra is breaded and fried in really hot grease its not too bad either. I like brussel sprouts. I used to grow them interesting plant they grow on a spire that shoots straight up from the plant.
I like edamame too although I like it in the pods better than shelled. I have never tried to grow them but since we grow lots of peas and green beans around here I think we should be able to grow soy beans. We have a friend that is a retired seed man and he tried to get people around here to try growing them but no one was very interested. I believe they are usually pick by had as they are immature soy bean pods and damage easily. I also like roasted soy beans as well. Some people eat them roasted in a salad but I like them alone sort of like peanuts.

Sally, I love that dish but haven't ever had it with creamed corn. It's always been more like this:Originally posted by SalpalSally View PostWe call the sweet pickles Jerkins, Gary!

Cat, Quaker make these neat little packs of flavored oatmeal, you just put it in a bowl, and add boiling water. My favorite is Maple & Brown Sugar, but they have several flavors. Add some toast, or my favorite, toasted English Muffin, and a glass of Soy milk to drink for me. It's a fast, and filling breakfast, or snack. 10 packs to a box, and a good price."Given the millions of billions of Earth-like planets, life elsewhere in the Universe without a doubt, does exist."
